ENON - With the Sept. 10 announcement that the Enon Messenger will cease its print version, subscribers will now have the opportunity to participate and receive the latest news from their communities at our new websites. For a number of months newspapers throughout the country have discussed the possibility of transferring the printed copy to online, reducing/eliminating the rising costs of newsprint and gasoline, associated with home delivery of the printed newspaper product. The Enon Messenger will now become one of the first in Ohio to totally transfer its news source platform from print to online. Information Technology (IT) specialists have been putting the finishing touches on this new website. We open the doors to community journalism and aspiring reporters. We want you to become the eyes and ears of our communities. We know this site will become overnight success story. Imagine going to our/YOUR website and having the community news at your fingertips. We are hoping that residents will submit articles about your neighborhood, your schools, sports, government … or you might just want to talk about the great vacation you and your family recently took. This site will become YOUR site. Articles and/or photos can be submitted and then our editors will review before uploading to the site. It’s just about that easy. All you have to do it go to the site and register with an email address to get your username and password and start participating today. Here’s your opportunity to do some writing and cover something you want to see on the website. The information will be placed on the website within a couple days of submission and will remain on site for a number of days after submission. There will be a calendar to submit your special meeting dates; an obituary section for funeral directors to submit death notices and funeral arrangements; and, of course, there will be a sports and news section where “would-be” community journalists can submit “their take” on a news/sports event. We’ll even offer a blog section, allowing residents to enter into discussion regarding political topics, sports “debate,” and general events affecting the lives of western Clark County residents. With the closure of the “printed” version of the Enon Messenger we wanted to offer an alternative for your local news, sports, and business information. We understand it’s tough to replace printed newspapers which have been a part of residents’ lives for many years, but with YOUR assistance we can continue to provide news and views for the new online Messenger. Subscribers are invited to visit the site on a regular basis to stay “up on the news” in your communities. Click on “create an account” for more details and join today.
