Clark County Habitat for Humanity to hold a one-of-a-kind auction to benefit another Clark County family

SPRINGFIELD — In September 2008, volunteers came together with the idea of hosting an auction to benefit Clark County Community Habitat for Humanity.  They wanted to do something totally different from what’s been done before – and what they’ve created is truly unique.

Beginning at 6:30 pm May 9, auctioneer Sheriff Gene Kelly will auction off the materials needed to build a home for a Clark County family who always believed that owning their own home was an impossible dream.  Guests at the event will be given the opportunity to bid on the trusses that will be used to shelter a family at night, or the insulation that will go into the walls to keep them warm, or the concrete block to provide a firm foundation.

Throughout the evening, volunteers from Habitat’s “day crew” will construct a 6’ x 6’ cedar play house which will then be auctioned off at the close of the event. The lucky bidder will leave with a lasting representation of what their contribution will help to build for our 42nd Habitat for Humanity partner family.

Successful bids of $2,000 or more will receive signage at the construction site and will be honored in the Habitat newsletter.  Door prizes offered will include the book “How to Build a House” by Larry Haun, leather tool belt and a beautiful 16oz hammer…what else!

The event is open to the public and will be held at the Springfield Museum of Art located at 107 Cliff Park Road.  Please R.S.V.P. by April 24th to 937-325-2514 or email  HYPERLINK "mailto: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
